16" tall glasswork by Ian Shishido
Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Ian Shishido studied at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, dedicating himself to understanding transparent material and its many uses. Glass became a vessel to venture beyond the blue horizon to share his craft. “As an observer of the natural world, I am amazed at the diverse wildlife here in the south. Being born in the tropical pacific, the environment here is different, yet holds its own unique beauty. I combined two different processes of blown and sculpted glass to create a visual representation of the blue heron I saw in my first few days in Virginia.” -Ian Shishido
